Podcasts are amazing. There is a podcast out there for everyone on every topic. From journalism to movie reviews – there is definitely a podcast out there for you. If you’re like me (and I think, most of us) and spend a considerable amount of time on buses/trains/in traffic, podcasts can help you make the most of that time by exposing you to stories from around the world. Here are a few of my favourite podcasts, what are your favourites? Radiolab discusses science, philosophy and human experience. Radiolab is one of those shows that teaches you about some of the most random things in our world, and it is absolutely fascinating. The Moth is a long-running story slam event run across the USA. Their podcast comprises of the highlights from these events. The stories short, dynamic, funny, heart-breaking, thought-provoking and life-altering. Often all at the same time. The power of story-telling is captured in this podcast, and I would recommend it to anyone. Serial became viral and popular during it’s first season, taking and in-depth look at the case of Adnan Syed and the murder he was found guilty of. The team, lead by Sarah Koenig, comb through every piece of evidence, speak to Syed multiple times, but leave the decision making up to you. Season 2 is just as riveting, if perhaps less popular. At the Grace Collective, we love Relevant Magazine and we love their Podcast. The podcasts include guests, authors, musicians, live performances, banter and much more.
Regularly the most downloaded podcast in the world, This American Life is a journalism podcast which takes a weekly theme and tells stories along that theme. The podcast covers a variety of themes and corners of society, is hugely thought-provoking, often touching and very entertaining.
